Crystal confetti is the latest trend to take over TikTok… and soon the whole crystal world! Crystal shops are going viral on social media by pouring, mixing, and scooping small crystal pieces and charms.
If you haven’t seen these videos, you’re probably wondering what in the world I’m talking about. I’ll show some examples, and tell you why I don’t give away crystal confetti in my shop. Find out what free gifts I add to my orders instead!

What is crystal confetti?
TikTok user @kennas.crystals started the confetti craze by adding a generous scoop of mixed small stones for free with her orders. Then her shop blew up on TikTok, where she has over 1 million followers.
Then, other crystal sellers jumped on the bandwagon. Soon, stores were one-upping each other by adding larger and more expensive items to their mix like jewelry, raw crystals, and carvings.
Why is crystal confetti so popular?
Different crystals have different uses and properties. So, receiving confetti is an inexpensive way to build a collection of stones for all purposes.
Crystal confetti videos are visually interesting and have a satisfying ASMR quality. They tend to be popular and get lots of engagement on social media.
Many crystal shops use their free confetti as an important selling point. Some stores’ marketing focuses more on confetti than on the actual crystals they sell!
Why don’t I give away crystal confetti?
I haven’t gotten into the confetti game with my Etsy crystal shop, Interstellar Crystals. Here’s why:
It’s unnecessarily expensive for my small crystal business
Some of the confetti on social media appears to cost from $3 to $10 per scoop. This makes me wonder: are sellers adding the true cost of confetti to their product price?
If they are, then the confetti isn’t really “free” for their buyers.
If not, then they could be seriously cutting into their profit… or maybe not even making money at all.
It can be wasteful
For every person who appreciates crystal confetti, there’s probably a person like me, who doesn’t have much use for crystal chips and small pieces.
All the small chips I’ve received are sitting on a shelf, gathering dust. Crystal lovers can end up with lots of free gifts that they don’t have a use for.
Whether or not a seller gives me small chips and tumbles doesn’t change my perception of their customer service. It’s a nice gesture; but for me personally, it’s kind of a waste.

What do I give away instead?
- For most orders: I include items that I personally enjoy, which cost me about $1. This often includes mini double terminated points, mini spheres, and high quality tumble stones.
- For orders over $75, I give multiple small gifts.
- For orders over $150, I’ll include nicer, larger gifts like mini towers, mini carvings, and raw crystals or clusters.
- Crystal suppliers often send freebies with my orders, like small carvings and crystal bracelets. I save these to give away to customers.
- I don’t give away anything that I actually sell in my shop. I feel like this devalues the items I sell.
- I make a donation of $1 per order to environmental nonprofits. That way, every customer can help protect the planet with their order!
Should you make crystal confetti?
Sure, if you want to enjoy making people happy with your generosity!
To make the most of your effort, create confetti videos regularly for social media. Popular videos include: mixing new confetti, adding new items to existing buckets of confetti, and packing orders with a scoop of confetti.
Posting videos of your confetti scoops on Instagram and TikTok can lead to engagement and new followers. But, that doesn’t always translate into more sales.
Many crystal shops sell their confetti too! That’s my recommendation – if you want to offer confetti, give a small spoonful as a freebie. But save the bigger, nicer items for a different bucket, and charge per scoop.
Are you on team confetti? Which items do you add to your mix? Am I missing out by not doing confetti? Let me know what you think in the comments!
